Böhse Onkelz is one of the most successful and controversial rock bands in Germany. The band members sympathized with the neonazi movement in the earlier 80ies but claim that they have dissociated themselves from the scene later on. Mainstream media in Germany has condemned and ignored the band because of their neonazi background for a long time. Nevertheless their fan base is huge and devoted. Nowadays the band is giving concerts in front of hundred of thousands people. Their fans even organize local Böhse Onkelz parties in small pubs and clubs all over the country where only Böhse Onkelz music is being played. Though the band claims to have moved away from their neonazi past, their fans might not. For Chrismon magazine I visited a Böhse Onkelz party in Neunkirchen, a small town in the Western federal state Saarland.
